Desserts Are an Important Part of the Baby Shower Food Menu

!±8± Desserts Are an Important Part of the Baby Shower Food Menu

Baby showers are not complete without sweets! Desserts, fruit, and pastries add sweetness and charm to special events. Sweets are an important part of a baby shower, so do not forget to include them in your menu. If you have reservations in a restaurant, the restaurant will probably offer a dessert menu from which you can choose your selection of sweets and post-meal indulgences.

If you are hosting the baby shower at a banquet hall or at someone's home, the dessert menu is completely up to you to decide on. You can make desserts fun, sweet, and baby themed to match your event. If there is a specific theme that you are focusing on, like "Pink Tea," design your dessert menu around your theme. Popular sweets for baby showers are pastries, eclairs, truffles, fruits, chocolates, and the ever-classic cake.

Pastries and éclairs can be bought or baked. Visit your local bakery to find out about any special deals and offers that they can offer for a large quantity of pastries purchased. You can also find some good recipes online or in a cookbook, and bake the pastries yourself. A great alternative to this is to buy frozen pastries at your local grocery store, or better yet, at a wholesale grocery store. These are affordable and scrumptiously delicious. B.J.'s and Costco supermarkets have amazing éclairs that nobody will ever know were bought frozen.

Trufas are a Latin American version of truffles. Truffles are not necessarily made out of chocolate in Hispanic countries, but can be made with coconut, vanilla, and other flavors. Two popular flavors in Latin America are coconut and cocoa-flavored truffles. An easy recipe for truffles calls for one can of sweetened condensed milk, a box of crushed vanilla wafer cookies, and a half of a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Cocoa, sweetened shredded coconut, and sprinkles are good add-ons.

Crush the cookies until you end up purely with cookie crumbs. Slowly add the sweetened condensed milk until you reach the desire consistency of tough clay. Add the vanilla flavoring along with the chosen flavor (cocoa, coconut, etc.). Use you own taste to decide how much cocoa or coconut to use. Roll into small, round truffles. As a finishing touch, roll the coconut truffles around in shredded coconut, and roll the cocoa truffles in cocoa. Sprinkles are optional.

Fruits and dip is a healthy and fresh option for a sweet treat. Serve apple slices, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, and melon alongside fruit dip, and you have got a fabulous and nutritious treat! Popular choices for fruit dip are caramel, chocolate, and yogurt dip.

Chocolate is a must-have for any baby shower. Small chocolates can be bought in bulk and served on tiny cupcake cups, for an elegant touch. You can also buy pastel-colored white chocolate (sold in bags in most craft stores), melt it, and pour the melted chocolate into small baby-themed molds (also can be found at a craft store). Refrigerate, and voila: delicate and adorable little chocolates!

Whichever sweets you decide to include in your menu, and whether or not you decide to make or buy them, do not forget about the cake! Whether you order it and have it made especially for your shower, or make it yourself, make sure that you are 100% satisfied with its outcome and that it ties into your baby shower theme.

Stock Up on Some Bulk Candy for the Holidays

!±8± Stock Up on Some Bulk Candy for the Holidays

The holiday season will be in full swing before you know it. Then you'll be juggling holiday parties, Christmas shopping, decorating, and wintertime events without a moment to spare. The last thing you want to happen will be looking into your child's sad, confused eyes when he or she says to you, "Where's the candy?"

Let's face it - the holiday season wouldn't be the same without those yummy sweet confections that put smiles on the faces of people of all ages. And you probably won't have time during the holidays to rush out to the discount store, supermarket or sweets shop to pick up the candy you need when you run out.

The best strategy? Get ahead of the problem now. Stock up on your candy supplies before you get swept away by holiday activities.

Here's an even better idea: save money on your candy by buying it in bulk. You don't want to blow your holiday budget, and you know candy prices will start to go up as the holiday season approaches. And candy is not like eggnog or yams, which can go bad if you buy them too early. It will sit on the shelf and be ready when you need it (assuming it doesn't get pilfered by scofflaw sweet tooths!)

Finally, why make an extra trip to the store to get the candy when you can order it online? You can grab your credit card, make a few mouse clicks, and then sit back and wait for your bulk candy to be delivered right to your door. Then you can cross that task off your holiday list.

There are dozens of choices when it comes to bulk candy for your holiday season. You can select several different treats so that you have a variety of candy to pick from throughout the holiday months. Or you can concentrate on one or two family favorites that your loved ones never seem to get enough of.

People of all ages like to enjoy their favorite brand-name candy during this joyous time of year. Some prefer the fruity goodness of Skittles, Starbursts and Jolly Ranchers, while others reach for the Tootsie Rolls, Nonpareils, Jujubes, red dollars and candy corn. Licorice lovers will devour the Good and Plenty, while those who like their candy spicy head for the Hot Tamales. And chocolate aficionados will reach for the Jordan Almonds, Peanut Butter Malt Balls or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Younger sweet-tooths (and the young at heart) always seem to grab as much "gummy" goodness as they can. These people can have their pick of Gummy Bears bulk candy in their choice of strawberry, red raspberry, peach, cherry, lemon, watermelon, orange, techno or swirly flavors. They're not just bear-shaped either, but are also available in shapes of strawberries, apples, raspberries, peaches, peach rings and cola bottles. And kids will smile as they bite into their favorite Gummy animal, like worms, lobsters, alligators, snakes, frogs, killer sharks, octopi and dinosaurs.

Of course, not all candy is known for being sweet. Some confections will cause your mouth to pucker with delight. So how about picking out a variety of Sour Patch apples, cherries, peaches, watermelons or cherries? Don't forget about sour worms, cola bottles, and twin cherries, as well as sour belts that come in apple, watermelon, strawberry and strawberry-banana flavors.

The holidays are often a time for "candy experimentation," or giving your family an opportunity to try some sweets that they haven't enjoyed throughout the year. For instance, rock candy in raspberry, strawberry, cherry or grape flavors are a tasty treat during cold weather months. Or you can buy exotic red, aqualife, or assorted Swedish Fish as well as fruity melon or grapefruit slices, melon or raspberry jelly rings, or Haribo raspberries. You could also be the only family on the block that has caramel cubes, candy blocks, lite cinnamon chews, or marshmallow twists this holiday season.

Love licorice? Then here's your chance to buy Australian black or red licorice in bulk before the holidays arrive. Maybe you'd prefer red or black mix licorice or an assortment of the two. If you're more "well-rounded," then you'll like gobbling up red, black, or strawberry licorice wheels instead. And don't forget about the red licorice scotties!

And then there are those people who can't have too much variety in a single candy dish. These are the folks who favor "mixes," like sweet and sour mix, novelty mix, sour mix, clods mix, or gummy mix. Chocoholics will be driven crazy by chocolate covered mix, chocolate lovin' mix, or Chocolate Heaven mix. For the ultimate in variety, order the sweet and sour mix, sweet and salty mix, Ooey Gooey Madness mix, or Everything Under The Sun mix.

What's more, many of these bulk candy choices are available in your choice of packaging. This allows you to not only order candy for yourself and your family, but also give candy as gifts to people on your list this holiday season.

So why wait until the holiday season has boosted your stress level? Order your bulk candy online today - and make your holiday season even more enjoyable!
